Domain Name Registration...

One of the first things a business or organization needs to consider is whether or not it wants its own domain name (i.e. http://www.yourname.com/).

It is generally a good idea to secure a name when you go online, as it allows you the flexibility to switch ISP's at will and yet keep your same address.

Having your own domain name does require being hosted at your own Internet Service Provider (ISP) at approximately $25 per month plus an annual $35 fee payable to InterNIC ( prices may differ depending on the ISP).

Although not required in order to have a web site, it is highly recommended that you register a unique personalized name (called a domain name) by which your web site will be known.

A domain name is registered to a business or an individual. It is unique to your company, product, or service and is, usually, your company name. For example: microsoft.com or yahoo.com.

Since the domain name you desire may already be in use, you should be prepared with a few alternative domain names.
